digbies is a group formed from psds, a charity whose principal goal is to provide support for children with down syndrome and their families. Earlier this year psds launched digbies – our weekly term-time development group. digbies stands for “developing individual growth by imaginative play, education and speech”. The weekly sessions (which take place on a Friday and are divided in to a morning group and an afternoon group) are held at Lloyd Hall in Outwood and are of great benefit not only to the children who take part but also parents who can experience first hand new ways to encourage and aid development in specific areas such as speech and language, early education and social interaction. Latest news We are delighted to see the recognition of Jenny Ward's hard work and dedication to digbies through the presentation of Mercury FM premier prize for their Local Heros awards.
“We are thrilled that Jenny has been recognised as a Local Hero,” says Helen Shiers from Dorking, co-founder and trustee of PSDS. “To all the families involved in PSDS, Jenny is certainly seen as a hero for her tireless and selfless work running DIGBIES (our weekly development groups). The services that PSDS provides, in which Jenny plays such an important part, are really helping to make a difference to the lives of our youngsters with Down syndrome – their future looks very bright and we are excited about all that they might achieve. So much of that is down to Jenny!” Visit psds - digbies' sister group Click following image to enter psds
